Blues' Brayden Schenn signs 8-year, $52 million extension

Deal will keep Schenn in St. Louis through 2030-31 season

Center has been a key player for Blues since being acquired in 2017 trade

ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Blues have signed center Brayden Schenn to an eight-year, $52 million contract extension, the team announced Thursday.

The deal will keep Schenn in St. Louis through the 2030-31 season and carries an average annual value of $6.5 million.

"Brayden is a core member of our team and we are thrilled to have him under contract for the next eight years," Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said in a statement. "He is a proven leader, a key contributor on the ice and an important part of our community."

Schenn has been a key player for the Blues since being acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2017. He has scored at least 20 goals in each of the past five seasons and has helped the Blues reach the playoffs in each of the past three years.

"I'm excited to continue my career in St. Louis," Schenn said in a statement. "This is a great city and I love playing for the Blues. I'm looking forward to helping this team win a Stanley Cup."
