Mississippi State Fires Zach Arnett After Less Than One Season

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State Director of Athletics Zac Selmon announced Monday that Zach Arnett has been relieved of his duties as head football coach.
Arnett, 35, was hired on Dec. 14, 2021, after serving as Mississippi State's interim head coach for the final four games of the 2021 season. He went 4-8 during his lone season as the Bulldogs' full-time head coach.
Mississippi State went 3-9 in the Southeastern Conference in 2022, its worst conference record since 2016. The Bulldogs also lost their final six games of the season.
Selmon said in a statement that he "appreciates Zach's contributions to our football program and wishes him and his family well in the future."
Offensive coordinator Drew Hollingshead will serve as interim head coach for the Bulldogs' bowl game.
