Lifespan to Finalize Terms of Bid to Purchase St. Anne's Hospital

Lawrence General Hospital to Acquire Holy Family Hospital

Maura Healey announced Friday that Lifespan will assume operations of Morton and St. According to the governor's office, Saint Anne's Hospital in Fall River and Morton Hospital in Taunton will be included in the acquisition.

Lifespan is currently working on finalizing the terms of a bid to purchase St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, MA.

Steward Health Care, which operates eight Bay State hospitals including Saint Anne's and Morton, filed for bankruptcy in May and is in the process of selling its assets.

Lifespan is expected to take over the two hospitals in southeastern Massachusetts owned by Steward.

Lawrence General Hospital will also acquire Holy Family Hospital, which has campuses in Methuen and Haverhill.

Healey was joined by her health and human services secretary, Kate Walsh, and public health commissioner, Dr. Monica Bharel, at the announcement.

Steward operates two hospitals in Massachusetts near the Rhode Island border: Morton Hospital in Taunton and St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River.
